Here’s what others have to say….
Dear Steve,
I HEARD YOU DID A GREAT JOB AGAIN!
On behalf of the CADV – our clients, staff, and volunteers – I want to thank you sincerely for the recent training seminar you conducted for us at the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence on August 21st.
There are many ways to advocate for safety within the anti – domestic violence community, and certainly the expertise, time and energy you have devoted many times over to our Coalition, is your unique way to help prevent abuse.
The feedback from those who attended was excellent, and all were appreciative.
I hope that our Coalition, and STAND TALL, will always collaborate together towards ending domestic violence and sexual assault.
THANKS A MILLION!
Very Sincerely,
Dale Kassan, ACSW, MSW

Recently, I attended a new class offered by Flight Safety Int’l at Teterboro Airport – New Jersey, as part of recurrent or initial training. It was taught by Steve Bramberg and, no joke, it was interesting this time. The course was the “cliff notes” of traveling on the road.
You do not need a weapon to protect yourself; you need a heightened awareness and the use of your hands and arms, and knowing how to disable your attacker. Something as simple as a pencil could be a weapon to deter an attacker. THE MAJOR POINTS ARE, AVOID, DEFUSE, ESCAPE AND DEFEND.
The company is called STAND TALL SEMINARS, 516-801-0696. There are 6 vital areas to incapacitate anyone, now do I have your interest? Take the class, it’s worth it! After the class, I had a renewed sense of being able to defend myself.

Dear Dr. Pastel: (Dr. Judith Pastel – former Superintendent of Huntington Schools)
I’d like to urge you to have someone look into a course I just finished in Adult Ed. at Huntington High, entitled Personal Safety, taught by Mr. Steven Bramberg (516) 801-0696.
It would be wonderful if this man’s approach could be worked into the Phys. Ed / Health curriculum somehow. I must say, too, that I feel it would be a lot more useful than the “new” program just used on the 9th graders - Operation Adventure I believe it was called.
One of my daughters who attended Huntington High had an incident on a train ride into Penn Station. One of my sons was surrounded and punched in the Finley Lobby. Unfortunately all people need to learn in advance how to get OUT of a predicament, how to de-escalate it. This course was developed personally by Mr. Bramberg when he was assaulted and realized he hadn't a clue how to protect himself. This is not Black Belt stuff, this is escaping - giving yourself a chance if you are being pulled or pushed somewhere, for instance - a couple of seconds time to escape.
Mr. Bramberg is a great teacher, he emphasizes over and over the TWO kinds of crimes, robbery of material items and personal assaults. He insists “give the item up – give them the car keys - don’t lose your life over a car - you have insurance” and the second crime where they are after you and you have to act FAST before they get you into a car or taken to a secondary location. He discussed that murdered NJ teacher, etc.
He said how learning what he has developed is like learning to read, or drive a car – once you learn how & practice a few evasive moves, you really have something you can do for yourself, just to give yourself a chance. The whole course that I took only lasted 6 hours (3 successive Mondays) - what a tiny amount of time to “safety - proof” our young people.
Mr. Bramberg said he had to work up these techniques for himself - that even police safety seminars etc. didn’t really help him feel like he had a technique of evasion & quick techniques to give yourself - any person - a chance to save themselves.
Obviously, I was very impressed. I do hope someone will look into incorporating Mr. Bramberg's work into the Health curriculum. Unfortunately, in today’s society, we can’t afford to be in denial... both girls and boys need to know how to get away!
Thank you,
